STREAMING
DO NOT BUY OR VIEW STREAMING MEDIA IF YOUR COMPUTER IS SLOW, YOUR COMPUTER'S MEMORY IS FULL, YOUR CONNECTION IS SLOW, OR THE INTERNET IS HAVING A GENERAL HUB CRISIS. DO NOT BUY TIME OR USE YOUR TIME IF YOUR SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONING WELL. WE DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS FOR POOR JUDGEMENT. 1. Before you buy time, make sure your computer has the right viewer - a current RealPlayer or RealOne player. If you don't know how to check, Yahoo's website has a nice utility to check your system. Click this link, wait for the results, and look for the RealPlayer listing at the bottom of the chart. If you don't have the program, click here to download Free RealPlayer. 2. Before you view streams, click here to view the Internet Health Report. Yellow or red colors on the grid indicate that the general internet is having speed problems, which means trying to view streams at this moment would be a waste of your time and money. 3. You can check to make sure your Real Player and computer are capable of viewable streaming by trying a few movie streams at Yahoo's Movie Trailers. Start by trying to view at a "dial-up" setting first, even if the website suggests that you view at a broadband speed first. If you have any problems viewing streaming, and you are on a dial-up connection, do not buy time here. It is unlikely you will be able to improve your functionality enough to be satisfied. If you have problems viewing streaming even though you're on a high-speed connection, Yahoo has a great page with helpful hints for improving streaming viewing; click here. In particular read the section on buffering. If buffering settings are too high or too low, it can seriously affect your streaming experience. 4. If you have covered all of these points and you are still unable to view streaming at an acceptable level, do not buy time here. We have no way of improving your connection or your system for you.
